8. Matched leather - Some furniture
is constructed with a matching vinyl used on the sides and/or back of the piece
to keep the down.
At Leather Furniture Place we never use split hides or
leather match!!!
Leather Grades - No other factor affects the price of
a piece of leather furniture more than that of the type and grade of leather that
is used. Each factory has its own numbering system and/or specific name for their
different grades. Grading in leather usually refers to the quality and finish
of the hide. Think of leather as you would think of a diamond. Diamonds with relatively
few imperfections and clear color are the rarest and therefore the most expensive.
Likewise, hides that have few marks and scars are the most rare, while hides with
more scars and natural markings are less expensive and need additional finishing
work to make them usable for furniture.
